==== Infrastructure Colophon ====
Interdependent, non-sovereign, it is not best practice.
Making of, how the titipi infra comes to be.
For who
- equinox, agro-ecologies
- thinking deeply about infra, but not about tech
- thinking deeply about hosting, away from autonomy

The TITiPI website https://titipi.org is currently hosted on [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linode Linode], an American hosting provider focusing on Linux-based virtual machines originally. The server is based in the UK. Linode was recently acquired by [https://www.akamai.com/company/company-history Akamai], another American company that specializes in edge computing. Even if Linode was already identifying as "cloud hosting", we are now considering to migrate; Akamai is actively changing its server policies into an increasingly intense cloud logic. The account is registered to an individual member (not to TITiPI); this would be another reason to change provider.
On the Greenhost server, we run [https://picocms.org pico], a flat cms. ref. server move
There is a [https://www.mediawiki.org Mediawiki] (you are reading a Mediawiki page right now) for notes and collective writing. On the wiki, we also publish our statutes, guidelines and other instituting documents. The wiki has a custom extension, [[wiki-to-pdf]], a publishing tool developed with Martino Morandi, itself based on work by OSP re-worked by Manetta Berends. Hackers and Designers in turn continued wiki-to-pdf as [https://github.com/hackersanddesigners/wiki2print wiki2print].
Burrow, tardigraph
Currently we are testing out the installation of an xmpp logbot, inspired by work done by [varia.zone/ Varia] and possible because Aggeliki Diakrousi (member of Varia) joined TITiPI as part of the SoLiXG project.
titipi.localhost, local server, ref to manual
The domainname titipi.org is registered in France with [https://www.gandi.net Gandi], who also hosts six email addresses and limited storage. [xxx per year] The account is registered to an individual (not to TITiPI).
https certification (what is that) is managed by [https://certbot.eff.org/ certbot], a Free Software tool provided by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
For notes and collaborative writing we use many [https://etherpad.org/ etherpad]s, hosted by [https://constantvzw.org Constant].
Back-ups, administration and other files are stored on a shared [https://nextcloud.com/ nextcloud] installation also provided by Constant. titipi.domainepublic.net [150 p/y]
Zotero on domainepublic
DIY DOI, ref frictions [ref]
We will soon use an internal mailman e-mail list hosted at riseup; for the International Trans*Feminist Digital Depletion Strike, we used a [https://boucan.domainepublic.net/mailman3/postorius/lists/ mailinglist hosted at Domaine Public]. news = lurk
Daily internal communication happens on Signal, which is privacy preserving and ran by an NGO, one of the rare centralized, non-Free Software tools in the TITiPI software stack.
For video-conferences, TITiPI uses a free jitsi service [https://meet.greenhost.net/ provided by Greenhost], a Dutch hosting company specialised in "sustainable webhosting". For larger meetings we prefer [https://bigbluebutton.org/ Big Blue Button], "Open Source virtual classroom software" xxx maintained by Constant.
A Counter Cloud Action bookshelf is in the making as part of a book project, which uses Calibre. xxxx
TITiPI pays a small yearly contribution to lurk and riseup, a yearly fee for domain name registration at Gandi, greenhost plus domaine public for hosting a Nextcloud instance. A monthly fee for the Linode server is paid for by an individual member. All other tools are paid for and maintained by their respective providers.
In June 2023 TITiPI received an email from Gandi to renew the domain in 6 days, not realising that at the same time we would need to start paying for our titipi.org email hosting. We had missed reading to the end of another email sent in the middle of June, entitled: "Pricing update". Gandi has been bought by your.online
