the industry of IP in Universitie

Not talking about the credits for the research

discussion in socially engaged arts/participatory arts

public engagement - marketing side of it

rehearsed for decades

how researchers are working with others in the process of research

Birkbeck event - not even an office

public engagement office = 2 people on unshitty contracts :-D

margalised unstructrually unsound

finding misfits

How titipi wants to collaborate with other people
how does it change through where money comes from

not talking about what they do -- ignoring the university infra

Legal aspects of collaborative research, how explicit do we need to be [insurance, IP]

can you cleave off the uni?
as an autonomous institute, this might change.

preferred strategy: to be under the radar.

to be contracted to evaluate a project

https://beyondparticipation.eu/

diff art organisations - involved as an external to do some critical evaluation - 3 methods..
10,000 euro - doing it as a freelancer and can pay half the money to phd student - rather than running through the college

"consultancy" and letting the line manager know

work time ... the money thing is fascinating.

i want it to be recognised as research and therefore i put in a research form
interest in how to maintain complecity.

idea: to recruit fieldwork diarists.
should we be paying people and how much words should they type for it?

by hiring/contracting someone, they are not 'human subjects' any more!

The human subject thing in ethics framework -- comes from anthropology/medical ... are you going to gather data and anlyse it from the subject?

subcontracting -- another relation is possible, maybe? Another type of legal agreement.
HUman subject - rather than participant; from consent form to research contract

who's contracting who
different relationships

The pleasure of participaation

Contract... co-research...

thoughts after the meeting --
how does the positioning as sub contractors change what the research is - and how does this limit or not what it can do in certain areas -
how might it effect seda and miriyam can take this up
for eaexample research based on interviews-- peer review paper-- for informing policy/NGO - has a certain type of validity and legibility
research on practices togther insights learnt-- still doesn't have a validity in NGO spaces, digital rights, anthro, design and CS fields... in sts yes because of focus on infrastrucutures... -
feeling the impact of interviews as method in digital rights spaces on this research
how do we thikn about peripheral politics practices here - as in not changing the structure of ethics in the universitiees but developing our own collective peripheral practice which is shared and some how reflected on together as too engage with the exclusions, problematics etc...
flyind under the radar but with checking in structures -- or sophie remembering your work on crtical friends..
