proposal: She is still shaping things to come, but 
we spoke of Ff/ Planete concrete installing ourselves
there for 5 days to do a Seed jam/ Seed scenorgraphy
happening. 

The project is in the frame of Seed Journey as an ongoing 
project with the introduction of a new seed from a Dutch 
farm - “Turkish Red” which has a long, dense story 
of migration in it as well as a reverse migration. 

We discussed making our presence in the form of a workshop with 
5-7 people who could join by sign up, but I want to discuss 
this with you before saying YES to this part. 

They have a relation with the design school in Arnheim 
who would be the workshopers if we want.

we would form a working group of 4-5 of us. 
 embed ourselves in the gallery for 3-5 days in a 
“jam session” responding to one grain “specimen” - this Turkish Red
that i mentioned also known as Red Settin. We would like this to be our 
starting point - a seed with a migratory story - a story of return - a story 
of pre and post - Green Revolution and one of resilience. 
 
WE would like to set up a framework in the gallery that allows for an unfolding
engagement with this seed and the possible routes it might take us on. 
Over the course of 3-4 days we would evolve a “performance", but during 
the build up, visitors can join(?), observe and participate. 
 
WE imagine a set of constraints that we pre-define as a score. 
The constraints would include
- materials list - seeds/grains, fabric, mirrors…
- equipment list - lighting, wires, projectors, motors, speakers, VHF radios (with weather conditions)  
- durations - each day we would have a schedule 
- culminating event; sound/performance session - sailing on - send off?

Onze activiteit vond plaats op het residentieplatform van Q-o2 te Brussel, 'an arts laboratory for experimental music and sound art' in de vorm van een fysieke opzet, geluid en beeld, gestreamd over verschillende kanalen. 
Naar aanleiding van het voorgaande Mayday Radio Festival in mei 2020, uitgaand van Q-o2, met cassetterelease, zijn we verder op zoek gegaan naar het hoe en wat in 'samen creëeren vanop afstand of eerder vanop afstand nabij en in nabijheid op afstand (ook in teken van de nodige afstand die men dient te bewaren). Tijdens het Mayday Radio Festival heeft Planète Concrète een geluidsstuk gemaakt, ieder vanuit zijn eigen woonplaats maar toch een creatie op het moment. 
Wanneer onder entiteiten een creatie of een intentie ontstaat, hangt in die sfeer een commutieve gedachtenvorm die de creatie vooruit stuwt. In tijden van corona is het moeilijk om nabij te creëren en we zijn op zoek gegaan naar afwijkende vormen hiervan om deze stuwende gedachtenvorm alsnog in de groep te krijgen met een minieme fysieke nabije aanwezigheid.
De ruimte in Q-o2 is eigenlijk een grote ruimte waar een muur de ruimte in het midden in twee deelt.
Met projecties van de ene ruimte naar de andere en vice versa, met tekeningen op projecties en daarop verder bordurend, projecteerden we een soort organisch narratief tussen de twee ruimtes. Idem dito met geluid. Met een condesatiemicrofoon in de ene ruimte stuwden we omgevingsgeluiden naar de andere om daarop verder te brouwen met elektronische instrumenten. Bij het geluid hebben we vooraf een structuur afgesproken die in grove lijnen het stuk stuurde met daarin onderwerpen verwerkt die meegingen in dit thema.

Planète Concrète is an open universe staged by strange / loving creatures. Sonic Discoveries. Making new prostheses.  Writing lyrics. Playing a new beat, trying a movement with giy instrument. Queering light sources, gestures, performance,are the visual elements of of this pink noise constellation.  They bring improvisation, covering the active repertoire or a ready-made karaoke version, nothing can be expected when they convocate various previously starred characters: Kippenberger, Kaoss Flower, Ground Ivy3.0, Poubelle, Av-net, Vinkenhart, Polly Petrol, A.Z, gender funky fuck, Moon Virgo, So White,.... Spideralex is a cyber-feminist fanatic of free technologies. She founded the Donestech collective in 2006, which explores the relationship between gender and technology through action research, documentaries and training. She is the editor of two volumes on the panorama of technological sovereignty initiatives. She also supports feminist infrastructure initiatives such as feminist servers. Recently, she edited with Sophie Toupin a special issue on "Radical Feminist Storytelling and Speculative Fiction": Creating New Worlds by Re-imagining Hacking Practices. 

r∆∆dio c∆∆rgo is an artisttic project interested in the collective and aesthetic dynamics that can arise from radio circles. Drawing inspiration from queer, eco-feminist and feminist science fiction, r∆∆dio c∆∆rgo sets up modes of encounter, play and interaction in which any speech or sound action can be amplified, repeated or deconstructed by the group.

Oscillation: Mayday Radio Marathon

The second edition of Q-O2’s annual festival Oscillation is dedicated to the format of radio. “Mayday” is an emergency call out, a radio signal, and simultaneously an allusion to the international worker’s day on May 1st. In radio terminology, “Mayday” is a “procedure word”; a condensed piece of verbal information used to initiate a communication. In light of changes for local arts funding, Q-O2 was not granted the expected money to continue our festival in the format we had imagined. Instead of forgoing the festival, we want to transfer the event into an open laboratory for continuous broadcasted; a reflection on communities of producers and listeners, on making do, doing-it-ourselves, doing-it-with-others, and using what is at hand.  

This is not a gesture of releasing politicians from their duty to fund and foster culture, which we see as fundamental part of society at many levels, or to suggest that making do with less is a sustainable model for the future. We want to use the circumstances at hand as a one-off occasion to reflect on the dependency of art on financial support and to see what other models are available. We’d like to remind ourselves that art is not primarily an activity to be reflected in gross national product, or a quantifiable return on investment, and that the discourse against cultural austerity will not be won with these arguments. Rather, we want to explore some art’s other means of valuation — for listeners, producers, and makers — as a way to generate and sustain community, to focus attention, to produce access, and to generate resilience against shifts in political winds. 

The festival will take the form of a radio marathon, continually streaming sound-works, conversations, and live-to-air concerts over 33 hour from our work-space in Brussels to a diffused community of listeners. The workspace itself will be free and publicly accessible during this time and will serve as a listening hub, a lounge, a concert venue, a record market, and an open space to meet and participate in ongoing conversations on artistic autonomy. Radio has long been a favourite tool for autonomous, DIY and experimental practices; in part because of its flexibility, relatively low cost, and capacity to host diverse forms of expression, and in part because its combination of local intensity and remote listening raises vital questions around community, audience, and access. The festival will draw on DIY methodologies and alternative systems of value determined in dialogue with its participants. At the same time, we realise that neither DIY nor radio are from nothing or for free. We see the event as a practical experiment in balancing responsible collaboration with an urgency to make things happen, and how we as a small institution position ourselves in regard to this. We would like to shift the conversation away from amateur vs. professional, or underground vs. institutional, and toward formats and practices that make space for compromise and coexistence between many kinds of approaches, many matters of making do.

The Festival will take place during 12-14 December at  Vooruit. During these 3 days there will be workshops, erotic  readings performances. It will ahppen  Balzaal in 3 days there will be different events and  happenings and they will all leave trace in the space. For   example Erotic Reading will happen on Thursday but rest of the   festival you can still listen the readings with ipods and          check the books. 

We are invited on Saturday you will start to perform around 15:30 until          17:00 then Hot Bodies Choir workshop start and will be busy          until 18:30. After that we thought it would be nice if you          take over the space and perform till 18:45 - 21:00. We were planing to style you up for this event if it's ok          for you :) What we thought it would be nice if you interact          with the audience somehow. Inviting them to perform with          instruments. Marthe always does :)  

What It would be great  also if you can do rehearsal or          preparations for the performance. It's quite important event          for us. We want everything should go smoothly. Hope you          understand.

Fwd: [DMRN-LIST] Sound::Gender::Feminism::Activism 2016 - Call for Participation

SGFA::2016 invites submissions for both twenty and ten minute contributions relating to the question;
How does whiteness,  transmitted as an often sub-audible yet ubiquitous frequency, establish  and maintain perceptual limits of what and who can be heard and how can  this be changed?

Sonitus: I believe the formulation "sub-audible yet ubiquitous frequency" is floating a bit far away from any understandable scientific coherence or, alternatively, from non-scientific logic.
Earlier on they formulated it somewhat more understandable: "the sonic conception of a random frequency, broad-based signal that masks everything else". Although, the notion of a "random frequency" doesn't make sense neither. They obviously mean a random signal which contains all audible frequencies at equal amplitude.
I guess they introduced "sub-audible" after a re-interpretation of "that masks everything else", but that clearly means something else. White noise is in no sense "sub-audible". 
I don't mind some sexification to drift off from boring scientific expressions, but it should still make sense somehow, no? Especially for THE theme question of the event and for a "College of Communication"...

Conclusion: I'd rather say: "conceiling yet ubiquitous sound"

OK, apart from that, I like parts of the remainder of the question. Some first ideas that spring in mind:
-fountains are often used in public places in this regard: they produce something white-noise like, which effectively masks other sounds and forms a sonic barrier, so that people feel more in a private environment. For example, next to a fountain you can talk romantic stuff with your parner and you feel nobody else can hear you.
=> maybe a fountain could be used methaphorically in some installation somehow? E.g. triggered by something... just some idea!
-probably the waves at a beach have the same effect... any ideas?
-"white noise carrier" ;)

I'm still considering the "how can  this be changed" part of the question. To me it comes accross as implicitly stating it should be changed... But shouldn't that be dependent on the outcome of the first part of the question..? Maybe it should be formulated rather as "how can this change", or something like that.
In other words: masking is not good or bad, it can also have nice effects, like the fountain does.

Also interesting to note: it's only a 10 or 20 min. contribution and I don't think they're paying anything.
It's not much effort sending in a short abstract and deciding later on though.
+ There might be a chance to combine it with a performance at MK Gallery, as the curator told me he fancies that idea... However, we didn't talk about dates yet.

How can we “confront  and broadcast the underlying whiteness of the field and of the generic  terms that provide so much currency in it: terms like “the listener,”  “the body,” “the ear” and so on” (Stadler  2015) in ways that do not replicate racism, colonialism and gender  violence but rather enable the audible transmission of alternative  histories, forms, relations and ways of being.

SGFA::2016 will  expand upon the previous research events through a combination of  presentation formats over the course of two days; both twenty minute  formal research papers and ten minute emerging researcher/artist  presentations for the sharing of recent or ongoing work are sought.
This is an open call  and we welcome responses from all relevant disciplines and will accept a  variety of formats from academic presentations, proposals for artworks  and documentation of artworks to more  experimental contributions.

Please send  expressions of interest, including the theme, topic and format of your  presentation of around 200 words and a short biography of no more than  200 words by Friday 8th July, 2016 to SGFA2016@crisap.org.
