This is a guide to have good sound quality during a dj or live sound performance from your 'ad hoc remote studio' . You don't wanna transmit your dj set or live show by the internal microphone of your laptop/phone/tablet/...

There are 2 situations depending of your 'ad hoc studio setup' to do sonic routing. Use an USB external soundcard OR Make a virtual sound card . Once setup the audio hardware, we need to do  Audio routing to online platform
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Situation 1

Connect your 'usb sound card'  and use it as a virtual audio interface. The device name will appear with it's name in 'System preferences > Sound > Output' or in your audio hardware control environment. You select the device as Output. You connect  your analogue setup (Turntables, Audio mixer,...) to the input of the sound card.

If the soundcard also has an external microphone or a microphone input, you can also select the device name in the  'System preferences > Sound > Input'.

OR

Situation 2

To be able to send the audio output of a software into another software (e.g browser, streaming latform,..) we need to set up a virtual audio card. This virtual audio card is a sort of hardware. Specific input and output settings between different software is called routing.

We recommend soundflower. > DOWNLOAD soundflower  (mac)
https://soundflower.en.softonic.com/mac and install it by richt clicking on the .dmg and right click again on soundflower.dpkg and click install. if you have a very new mac it is more complicated in relation with security issues....follow this guide :
https://www.fluxforge.com/blog/soundflower-os-x-10.11-10.12-macOS-sierra/

If sound flower doesn't work install BlackHole or Jack or SAR depending of your operating/distribution system
https://github.com/ExistentialAudio/BlackHole (mac)
https://rogueamoeba.com/loopback/ (mac - paying)
https://jackaudio.org/downloads/  (linux), windows)

Soundflower, BlackHole, Jack, loopback... are audio interface drivers.  Your Virtual Sound Card  won't show up in the Applications folder.  It only shows up in System preferences > Sound > Output  or Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup. Even if you had some remark that it wasn't installing properly you have to check in your System preferences > Sound > Output
The next step will be to tell your  application to  use Soundflower, Blackhole, Jack, .. as your 'virtual sound card'.

The connection of your virtual sound card is dependent on the application you are using. In most Audio Softwares under 'Preferences > audio' or 'output'
you can set your master output, to a different sound card - chosse ex.  soundflower CH2. Best is to have headphones/booth output set to 'Built in Sound' , so you can listen to yourself/music in your headphones/home system. ( via the line out)

Depending on the online platform,  you change the microphone settings to the External USB Sound Card of your Virtual Sound  Card.

TO ORGANIZE A  JAMSESSON - LIVE RADIO TRANSMISSION - PARTY, GATHERING -...
ask everybody to fill in the following technical list . So you can support each other more easily

What is your hardware ? (tablet, laptop, ...)
What is your operating/distribution system ( linux, Mac, windows) + which version ?
What is the language of your interface ?
Which audio software are you using + which version ?
Are you using an external sound card?
Are us using a  midi controller?
