HALLO
one day... i happened upon a blog post...
https://rgoswami.me/posts/my-life-in-eink/#koreader
2 main formats:
- pdf (has become open format, originally made for print, basis is a page, layered)
- epub (format of webpages/html/css compressed in a zipfile)
Kindle uses MOBI-format, encrypted/drm file - you can highlight sentences, visible for others
Kobo embraced open format, also works with store/drm for some epubs
Source for epubs

Koreader allows for:
- pdf to flow
- add dictionaries, notetaking, exporting notes
- search in wikipedia
- rotate pdf
like Linux on a Mac, replacement for the operating system
same interface, books with drm don't show up (there is software to remove drm)
it is dual boot, you exit, it reboots and go back to Kobo
also works with other older e-readers

Download a shell script file: same page (under header Linux)
install ssh and zipfile (not extracted!) in same folder
plug kobo
open terminal
it automatically detects your kobo, might ask though
when kobo updates, you might have to run the script again
you can export notes, they are saved in /mnt/onboard/.adds/koreader/clipboard/.
