__NOPUBLISH
After the exhibition
* What do we do with the exhibition after 25 november ?
M: Pack it down, divide objects between us, and let it reboot naturally like a seed of a fruit.
I: Same as Mia.
Max: Same as Mia and Iris, and I'm already putting an option on the /tmp installation (or at least everything I brought there, which I'll be needing it in the coming month ;)
Z: same as Mia, Iris and Max (exept "and I'm already[...]in the coming mounth") :o)
** Shall we keep the objects, ?
(and where? the galss objects are heavy and vulnerable)
M: I think this can be decided between the artists? Personally I would love to take care of the Nispero-table, if the rest is ok with that, but will need to arrange transport. + I can also store things in my studio for people :)
I: I also think we can divide between us, dunno if someone can also keep them while we cannot go for them.
Max: same as Mia and Iris, with the same option as before
Z: ... hum. Yes but I cant give a physical answer. Don't have any idea for keeping the objet...
Y: except the heavy glass , everything can be put in boxes. I can keep some stuff in my studio for 5-6 month.
N: the laptop (inside the speaker table) belongs to Reni and shall be returned to her. I would not mind
redoing the installation later on a raspberry and you (constant?) can keep the 6 track terratec soundcard.
* leading to another question:
what would you think if the exhibition would be repeated elsewhere ?
M: personally I would love it! But we would need to look into specific places and where the funding for transport could come from etc.
I: For me will also be super! Although I would like to know before how is the space and also about the fundings of money for transport, etc.
Max : Good idea, question is how to adapt it to other places (which add funding for the time spent for re-installation and ... improvements ?). Also, for /tmp, this would mean renting/buying slide projectors and re-do electronics (not a huge amount of time and money, yet still something to keep in mind).
Z: same as M,I and Max. Is there any wish to keep on going some works or update them according to the new context of exhibition? meaning for example : /opt: new postcards ; /etc: new pictures ; /proc: an accurate location/room+"the heliostat/solar-tracker mirror";...
N: agree.
** Christophe was asking this, and he thought he might interest other
exhibition venues ? What do you think about it ?
M: does this mean he has someone who is interested already? Anyways, a nice compliment that he liked it to the point of wanting to share it with more people :-)
I: Yes nice to hear that! Maybe we can spoke about that on an online meeting? But for me yes.
Max: Nice !
Z: +1
Y: is it just a repeatition or some more time to change and improve the installations?
* who can help on 25 nov. to dismantle the expo ?
we have now: Yoan, donatella, peter, Marjorie,
Anyone Brussels based want to jump in? It is paid work.
M: I can help too.
I: I cannot... but! I would like to see the postcards from the people that has passed by :)
Max : Same as Iris, unfortunatelly...
Z: I can't... I'm already out of brussels til mid-december at least. "But" feel free to send me a postcard if I find the adress of the house. By the way at which adress should I send one for the group...?
* Shall we do an online meeting sometime in the coming weeks ? a
debrief, evaluation ? would be nice maybe ?
M: I’m up for that. Some postcard-writing and audio recording would be sweet in the winter darkness.
I: Yes! I think can be nice to make a conclusion or at least speak between us about all the process and the final result, I think can help to make the project grow. Moreover, I am already missing you all :)
Max : I'd love to, even better if the brusseleirs are able to meet irl, which for me would be after december 1st
Z: Also up for an online meeting... But... the place we are staying works better with fire than electricity... However I can try so. In this case Is it possible to send me a sms one or two days before the appointement?
Y: yes let's debrief!
(max) * Is there money left on the budget ? If yes, shall we :
- reimburse some stuff used from our workshops during the exhibition ?
- for Max : slide projector lamps, not-shiny black tape
- buy some stuff that are related to stuff we wanted to do during the exhibition ?
- for Max : things to build the heliostat/solar-tracker mirror
- for Yoan : an audio amplifier broke during the residency
P: of course no problem to reimbourse slide projector lamps and other stuff used during the expo, but we (constant) need to spend the money this week, before the expo is over.
If you have tickets, costs, ... please let us know asap. We will spend the money before the end of the week.
Max: please buy that stuff you need and make sure we know about the amount you spend soon, before wednesday.
Z for Peter: I still have some tickets (camera renting, printshop). Shall I scan the tickets? Is reimburse cash only?
Agenda points for meeting of 15 october, 11:00
I'm off ! Bye everyone !
- Arrivale and agenda first days of residency
- Thursday 24: gather for diner @ Ruedufort 5 ?
- We could also have a look at the Diversions expo with Mia and Zoumana?
- the idea for the first day (if the weather allows us) was to make a kind of treasure hunt that starts from bozar. The journey (drawn by Mia and Max) is not yet definitely set, and we could propose that the ending is in St Gilles !
- on 24 everyone arrives at different times, so realisticly, the first day will be 25
- can we summarize here the different arrival times
- Norbert : 19:30 (thursday)
- Iris : 12:30 (thursday)
- Zoumana : already there ?
- Maxime : already there !
- Peter: 19:00 (I have to teach that day, and will arrive a bit later. )
- Mia : already there :)
That's great so actually late afternoon is an option already. There is an expo nearby in which Mia an Zoumana participate with really beautiful work, maybe it is worth going? The last day is 26 oct.
Yes, maybe it's better than doing the treasure hunt (which we can do it tomorrow (friday?yes) when everyone is available) or can we do both in the same day?
+1 so friday? or thursday?
=> we thought everyone arrive wednesday and thursday will be the first day<<<, so let's do the treasure hunt on friday (right Mia ?) norbert arrives on wednesday? no thursday 24 so i dunno if we will have time for both activities on thursday
no, everyne arrives on thursday.
(on the 25th of Oct there will be a discussion in the exhibition space of Diversion (Pianofabriek)) haha so maybe if we have the time (and we are not too iterated ) we can go that day all together Yes it could be interesting, it is a discussion around how to deal with problematic documents in a collection, specifically from a decolonial point of view - Elodie of Constant wrote a text about Paul Otlet's text "Afrique Aux Noirs"< what time is this discussion happening ?
Friday 25th 14:00: Meeting Mondotheque/Algolit discussing 'Mise en valeur et omission' -- I will discuss with Max on how to loop this into the tresure hunt. And if the timing is difficult then perhaps we can end at Pianofabriek at the end of the day and join with the other group (there is a cute little bar there too)
Thursday 24:
Diner at 20:00, back house Rue du Fort, behind Constant office, it is where Iris and Zoumana are staying)
* Badges distribution
* Peter does shoppings, bring 1 thing you like sharing (not too big)
Friday: 25
Treasure hunt (Max Mia)
- 10:00 Treasure Hunt will start from Bozar Lab, and we can probably include the re-summarize of iterations somewhere in the journey :) (will ask what Peter and Donatella need in pm) +1
- and finish at DiVersions (Pianofabriek) if the discussion is still going on.
15:00 - 16:30 Re-summarize Iterations (Peter + Donatella) in the office of constant
discussion in the exhibition space of Diversion (Pianofabriek?? if having time / if less time, ending at Pianofabriek at the end of the day.
Saturday26:
10:00am : visit expo DiVersions: http://constantvzw.org/site/DiVersions-installations-publication.html
(maybe making the agenda can be on one of these days as well ?, there is a small retro-planning here:
https://pad.constantvzw.org/p/iterations_brussels_retroplanning +1 looks good :)
Sunday 27:
Monday 28 :
Tuesday 29 :
Wednesday 30 :
Thursday 31 :
Halloween !+
Friday November 1st
- s it a holiday? what does it mean hoiday ? shops are closed then? yep
some of christian conviction maybe .officially yes.ok no christian cables to buy :)- => day off ^^ Yoan arrives that day
- Discuss generative system: collection of conditions is neverending
(is it possible to discuss this here and now ?)
- Role division between all: each take specific part of work ? (for example each hosts a /folder ?, someone concentrates on the scenography ?, etc.)
- Proposition : Maybe it can also be that groups (from 1 to 3 persons) take specific part of the work for one day (or two) and then we change (groups and missions) in order to have both a collective work and in order to get things done (always more difficult in "big" groups)
- Shall we discuss this during treasure hunt :-) ? < there will be kinda space for this yes ! merci :-)
- Constant Collaboration guidelines in the making: :
ok here 's something we haven't talked about yet:
with constant , across different activities, we are reflecting on what are our conditions of work, in a very concrete way: with many others together we are trying to write a guilines document for various collaborations. It glues very much to the topic of Operating / Exploitation , so maybe it is worth haveng a look / chat about it ?
Also, following the residency, there will be a worksession on the topic of 'Collective Conditions'. where participants will work on how to create conditions for collaboration, other then in writing. We are working with some groups in Brussels: (Zinneke parade, refugee groups, ...) and international guests and experiment with choreography, and alternaties to writing text on paper in a 'code of conduct' Some people you know participate (Reni, Julia, .. ) here's the sghirt programe:
https://pad.constantvzw.org/p/collectiveconditions.programme
Very practically : the 'guidelines' are also applicable to what we do together.
for us it is not something we are completely happy with yet, and maybe never. But the link above is the stable version untill january, then we will revise the document using input we have from several sides. We collect remarks questions etc. on an etherpad:
https://pad.constantvzw.org/p/guidelines.questions
- Walltexts:
- Title + description of expo, 2 times, at each entrance.
- Timeline and descriptions previous residencies incorporated in expo, /lib ?
- In the retroplanning, Peter is writing the text this week and it will be printed on tuesday 29. Just wondering if/how the iteration group is supposed to and will have time to participate in the writing of walltext
eh max, it is something I am counting ion doing now. I work with Manetta Berends, who is also designing the flyer, and the handout. < sorry, I think I didn't get what is the wall text, I'll ask later !
(title, + description of the expo (general) + mission Iterations + small review of passed residencies + diagram timeline of activities)
Let's say the texts that give context to the expo.
I'm off ! Bye everyone !
But for the handout, we will together have to make a text (ir drawings or whatever) because it is the text that visitors will receive.
The wall text is more zoomed out, one step more general
Question: is it a good idea to integrate the history / timeline of Iterations in the expo as we spoke about before ? for example in the /lib, /doc, or whatever section will be created for the documentation / library .. ? I like the idea.
yes I think so. We could also exhibit some relics. please:) what are the relics ? from graz I can bring some rubber strings and we can have a bit of (yes, local!) soil Yes and we have the net, sensors, soil here. yes
I would also explain the different iterations but paying atention not just on the objects that were used but with the concepts they were proposing, because can be misunderstood their original meaning (we had a little discusion about that on iteration in hangar)
nice, so it could maybe be a 'history' folder?
ok, manetta and Marjorie have been working on a chronology. We will have some basic texts and image files on the previous Iterations. To explain contexts. We need to do that in advance, because we have to translate to 3 languages.
But I think that can be a great start to add to. Even if there are things in that text that raise discussion, we can ad a [discussion] gate, or correct it .
Or add stuff to it.
Did someone have to leave at 11:00 ?
Me I have to leave in 5 min, sorry
Ok, Iris, what is important for you now ?
The text of each iteration will be written by whom?
me? very short texts. And then everybody can extend during the residency ?
i am thinking on that, i think is interesting that also the participants of each one add things. I am thinking on which would be the best start, i mean, if from the organization and later re do it or directly from each participants. I have a little discussion with myself hahah
Sorry I need to leave, I will check the pad after the conference.
Best :)))))))
:-) BYE ! bye!!
thanks for that nice interior dialogue
gotta go too in a couple of minutes...
I'm off ! Bye everyone !Bye!!!!!
see you soon
looks like the end for today? yep! ok I am off ... good bye to everyone!!bye!Good byyyye! ✨Byee!
(dramatic soundtrack? ttttdddd prrrr poef)
ok :( will there be another meeting until oct 24? or some emailing?
We over here think that is maybe difficult, why not dos ome emailing ? yes pls. is there a common e-mail address (group address?) shall we set up one?
not yet, but I can ask start a mailing list think it ias a good idea..
will do so tnx!thanks!
Last time (with mia, max and zoumana) we were talking about a daily report (caus I won't be here the first week)... can be useful for us as well. Yes we talked about writing a postcard each day or fill out a sort of form like a ship's logbook is it still relevant?Maybe it is something we can discuss upon meeting on Thursday 24th :) - - and we start it then? should be something not too elaborate, something simple to do. Exactly!
ok :-)
- Name suggestions, (flekk, n/ever ready, whoami seem to be on the plus side) +whoami
- How was contact with Yoan ?
- Great, it was even a mini-work-meeting actually !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
30-09-2019
Agenda points for meeting of 30 sept:
------------------------------
* Explain what has been done:
- description of subject (check room / conditions / boot),
- set up of the space, -> division in 'folders/ metaforic
- method, (generative system of working)
- Strategy for the work, how to make the collective work ?
* What about a groupname ? Ideas for groupnames: Write your proposals below
* Does this title make sense to everyone ?
Operating / Exploitation (the Collaboration check room)
* Concrete propo to work with principle of the generative process during the expo: printing posters
* In order to know a bit each other, we can also think about what kind of materials we would like to work with and share it on monday meeting. This way we can give ideas to the rest of the group, and/or start a brainstorm based on desires (your own and each other's desires). For example, Maxime was thinking of working with maps and (neon) lights.
* how does everyone see their involvement, what would you want to do ?
* Speak about roles that could be taken by everyone
- (for example: scenography, dramaturgy, collection, writing, printing, soundtrack, ...., )
* Some days we work as one collective, some days as collectives of one ;-), small groups
Any questions about what has been going on in this transition moment between Brussel1 and Brussel2? (or other questions)
I've been talking with martin about the handover meeting so i am a bit informed about it... Cool
me i just read that, rosa explained me a bit also though Great :)
what do youthink about .......... title ? :-) (operating / exploitation)
I undersand that there is a pun in french language in there WHat? ah yes.
'operating system ' is 'système d'exploitation' :)
Iris what do you think ?
i think it works at least for now, i dont know exactly what is the meaning in french (guess is just the same) but i wont stuck now on that, if we find a better name then we just think on changing no?
Do you want someone to tell a bit where it came from as a working title? ?
it comes from the operating system on the computer isnt it? yes
i have read the pad :PPPP Juuuust checking ;) no, no. Just in case you wanted more background :)
so in the previous residency did you write or list the conditions problems you want to relate with each part of the computer system?
So we did several different exercises for each other (inspired by the iterations in Barcelona and Graz) and one of these were to make a list of conditions and another one was the exercise in which we organised the room to reflect a computer system and did a word-association game based on this. But, as a starting framework for when we meet in Brussels we thought it would be nice if these two exercises come together ... with other things as well :)
i understand, so there are many things related on that to maybe reorganize in one?
so the work in the residency will/may be this: to invent / find / make / ... conditions, and think about how / where they could fit together ..
Norbert we have a question to you: ok
zoumana asked if the metaphor works, we seem to already be in the 'file system' already, but are saying in text that the checking of the process is where we are? seems to be unclear where exactly we are...
well ... wikipedia says booting comes in two stages. there is a tiny program loaded first which then loads the kernel and the kernel then talks to the file system already on the computer...
but I like the idea of the exhibit being kinda suspended in the booting process, so there is a inbeween ... everything seems to be ready but it is frozen/suspended ... +2
the booting process in itself is always a mistery and wonder to me: how can a machine come into life? this is a paradox -
the paradox is simolar to the topic: how can we think about thinking? hen and egg...
I once made some speculations about Baron Münchhausen tearing himself out of the mud...
by the laces of his boots ....
actually by his own hair but is doesnt matter :)
yes :-)
look https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bootstrapping#/media/File:Zentralbibliothek_Solothurn_-_M%C3%BCnchhausen_zieht_sich_am_Zopf_aus_dem_Sumpf_-_a0400.tif
a condition we are in during this project I guess :) hahahahaha
wow nice screencast !
sorry to get back to it: Can we say that the title is ok? ok with me (Mia) and me (Max)for me too+1
I am asking also because i think it gves a realdirection to thework and it would be great to anounce it, so it gives a more precise image of the work.
But then I woud say, let's stick to it, andnot change it.....
For example: can we put in articles (website)
the second title being "an exhibition about digital collaboration without any computer" or " an exhibition about digital collaboration garanteed 93,5% lol without computer" seriously? :)
98% percent sounds more accurate...i will add as many numbers after the coma as we can
98,87547652482823654 %
i also like the idea of the subtitle
discussion here: maybe not as a subtitle, but very prominent in the first part of the description, or as a label ....
a sign on the entrance
ok got it :-)
we already had "contamination" ... I like this using of "negative" terms like in "Collaboration/Contamination"
Oh it sounds negative to me in english...
i hear
i
what about Operation / Exploitation
wel that was the older one,
we figured 'operating' as a verb is 1/ more correct (operatingsystem) and 2/ active analyses and investigation of 'exploration':
the initial subtitle was:
Operating / Exploitation (the Collaboration check room)
what if we don't do a subtitle, we can add that later.
yes it doesn't need to be with the title all time, for me it was kind of fun
I think the title is sneeded ASAP, isn't it?
huh? sorry ... but "seeded" also works :):-)
So what can we do now to not go over 19:30 ?
options mentioned here are:
- let's talk about a group name
and also:
- can we each discuss a material /item / something you would like to work with ? what could be a nice contribution to the work ?
- sound :D /voice
- (Mia) sculptural/material fusions + (distortions of things when seen through) wobbly glass/transparant material Yeah! Yeah!
- (Max) maps + (neon) lights + film (maybe)
- (Zoumana) ... work with questions about dramaturgy and rules of the game (...coming from forum theater, and the questions of engament for the spectators)
- will there be a specific "layout" of the exhibit? the folders (/bin /etc etc)
- That was the idea.. So how this could be done?
- But it can also be associated upon, changed or used broadly, for example /lib - could be associated upon through function but also through the word itself - - - "Womens lib" "Liberation" etc.
- so /lib could be a pile of books? :) /mnt a mountain? (sorry I am getting silly) Haha, yes exactly. Or, what I mean is that it is perhaps a starting point more than a hard box.
- And the way it´ll be displyed in the space is still to be thought through (very simply, written on the walls, or lighten up, or something else !)
- what about the A1 prints? this is maybe another subject , ?
- -there was the idea that also the spectator could contribute printing in the place when seeing, isnt it? i thought maybe we could use a typing machine for that?
- ok I see. or two typewriters sharing the same roll of paper (endlessly) Yeees
- the main question is: how to create a generative system that can be followed by visitors of the exhibition. which kind of contribution (aportation) we are expecting from the spectator? we will do some question to them? because i dont really see how they are going to participate if we dont suggest a situation to them +&1
- Question to the could for example be: find your conditions, and if they are not there, add them yourself ... => are we ready to see some spam also ? (I´m thinking on how people wrote all kind of stuff on Constant´s vitrine where they are invited to write on the window ppl shall also have the opportunity to erase writings.
- yes.
- A thing to know: There is permanently a person mediating in the space; Marjory is working as a stagiare , she is available, so it is posiible to guide people. Setting a clear thing (condition) for the contribution is helpfull and inviting.
- for me it has a lot to relate with all we are speaking about, if we are speaking on the conditions to work together these ones have also to be considered when inviting another to participate, using the same logic.
- (max) I´m super interested to test this hypothesis, but also I think I´ll have the need to question this particpation. But I won´t be critical before something had actually håppen 😊
- question is: what is this participation good for? is it part of the concept? +1(mia)+1
- good topic for the second day of residency! yes we should point that out: in graz, visitors were already overwhelmed by the exhibit, they had to get the clue on what this was all about ... only if ppl are well informed they might become able to participate. the exhibit has to be self-explanatory. Yes true.
- well ... could be ?
- the first thing it comes to my mind when reading the pads was how make a "place where work together" rather than just descript it. (dunno if i have descrived it well).
- Yes, I think some of what we planned as a handover for the 1st day of the residency is about how to create a good place to work, to make the location familiar.
- But I think this is very important.
- TEASER: It will be a treasure hunt ✨ Hoho!
- (peter) but i think it is very important to stay (metaforically) in the space of summing up, checking, comparing , ... not yet in the space of 'functioning'
- i would like to work with voice but more like video, interview, text. i was thinking more on working with the vision of the people we were in the project itself haha
- :)
- Hey we have 10 minutes left,
- you want to try thinking if it makes sense to have a group name ? and which one ?
- Metaphor Treasure Hunters
- what about an acronym? acronym for what? HICCUP (Herd of Iterated Contamination/Collaboration Under...paid/fed/ Utterly Paradox +1 or
- F.L.E.K. Forever Loving Ecclectical Kollaborators +1 +1 +1 1 (but not secure)
- So: Do you think it makes sense to have a group name ? (p) +1
Group name suggestions:
The group has a name and everybody who contributed to the group is mentioned, artist or not.
- whoami +1
- w.h.o.a.m.i for working habits of artists mingling iterations+1
Exploration group -2-1-1<insert group name here> -1Iterations #5 group -1- The Bootstrappers 0 (neutral)
Metaphor Treasure Hunters -1- Are we ready? =i like these idea, it relates with the boot
- Ready when you are
- never ready +1 +0.5+0,361527365 (maybe we can do an acronymous with that? I would be interested in that)
- n/ever ready+1
- Never Ever Venturing
- SCNR Scupltural Composers Never Ready
- N.A.S.T.Y. Noble Artists Stick To Yterations
- getting ready
Do you think we arive at consensu about a group name ? try to give a +1 or -1 to all names ? (but it's not a vote... !)
does flek have a meaning in english? no. I dont think so
in german it could be 'stain' but written with Fleck no ?but isn't norwegian flek? Flekk aha! Fleksikon has one k, Flekk has two. Flekkk!
in czech is stain
hey everybody sorry I have to leave ...
ok; undecided ... we think a bit and come back to it next meetng? yas
maybe you ppl boil it down to 3 alternatives and then we decide
ok good bye then to everybody!! till soon!
next one was on ????
Bye allllll
Iris, I guess we have to stop ....
okey, see you next meeting!!
thank you for being there
see you!!!
15 oktober (11:00, without Maxime)
we see each other these day isnt it?
yes indeed !
if you have questions or so let me know but yes, that is when we meet again..bye from here !
Retroplanning
Here is a beginning of a retroplanning, we will need to proceed with this.
https://pad.constantvzw.org/p/iterations_brussels_retroplanning
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meeting 23/09: some notes.
Marjorie, Mia, Peter, Maxime
If we go with the 'poster' idea, we rely maybe a lot on one person.
Yoan because the printing would be by him ?
possible solutions;
- can the (printing) task be shared ?
- can the planning of posters to be printed be adapted ?
Make a retroplanning (PW)
Agenda and email to everyone for 30 sept;
Get in touch with Yoan to get to know him since he will be half away
Don't forget: the expo info Iterations process could be in the /lib folder

19/09/2019,
ATTEMPT TO WRITE AS COMPLETELY AS POSSIBLE THE DRAFT OF HOW THE EXPO COULD WORK
The following text puts together many of the ideas that have been talked about in previous meetings. Let's see together monday in how far this works for everyone.
I tried a few things:
* make a proposal that is fun, coherent and fits within the Iterations project.
* structure the residency weeks: a method that can be started in the beginning, and continues after everyone has left, following Luis idea to make a generative system. This could mean that the opening pf the exhibition is not the 'perfect' state, but it marks the beginning of a process.
Title idea:
Operation / Exploitation
(the Collaboration check room)
...
By: the Exploration group
With contributions by: (Yoan Robin (hybrid role: technician artist), Rosa, Geraldine, Mia, Max, Luis, Marjorie (mediator), Zoumana, Iris, Martin, Norbert, ....)
Question: (is it a good idea to choose a 'group' name?, what can be another name ? "Iterations #5 group", or ... )
CONCEPT:
The exhibition is about how people work, live, are together. When people are in one place, around a central incentive, what are their ways of creating connections, of coupling their expectations and making routines that are functional, agreeable, or even just acceptable? Do we need a common statement (manifest), is there an agreement on how we work together (code of conduct) or do we search for fluid, agile, intuitive ways to operate as individuals coming together in a group? Conflict and friction are acknowledged as part of this process. In the exhibition they are put central in the investigation.
Which parameters do we want to put in place for the collaborations in which we want to participate? Which relations, material and financial expectations? When friendship, curiosity, the joy of being together oils the collaboration machine, it is not always felt as such, but when collaborations are not 'arranged' the chance that it will come to a grinding halt somewhere is real.
Operation / Exploitation investigates the possibilities of the analogy with the start-up process of a computer. A computer is operated by a system that consists of scripts and code that makes sure all seperate elements in the system connects and works together as a whole. Hardware, memory, interface, processor, they are part of a technological infrastructure that needs coordination.
The exhibition Operation / Exploitation proposes to stay put in this startup phase. Instead of going into functional operational mode as quickly as possible, the system stays in the moment of the 'system-check' which is necessary in order to see if all necessary conditions are met. This system is not 'ready' to boot yet.
Are all conditions met with? the system can boot. Are crucial elements not in place. There will be kernel panic!
A POSSIBLE DESCRIPTION OF THE EXHIBITION
The rooms of BozarLab can be filled with conditions for collaboration.
This conditions can be written, or other, and printed on paper (for example A1 size)
The prints can be organised in spots / folders, each of them clustering a type, a categorie, a sort, ... of condition. This way there are groups of conditions that can start 'talking' to each other.
A central path (trunk) starts from the entrance (root) and branches into the various clusters.
These groups/ clusters of conditions can be marked, for exemple with a colour (of the paper, or carpet, or lines, or ...or ...)
Each cluster / spot collects a group of conditions that are needed / desired / wished / for starting up a fruitful operative collaboration.
By "condition" we can understand for example: functions, expectations, starting points, instructions, ways of doing, questions, considerations. They can be phrased as a slogan or small script, or ..... Examples could be: 'I want to be able to breath' or: 'Go enjoy yourself', 'Work should be rewarding' And why not also: a picture of beautiful skies, a video of a party in the park.?
The organisation of the space can follows the folders in the root of the Unix filesystem.
/bin, /boot, /dev, /etc, /home, /initrd, /lib, /lost+found, /misc, /mnt, /opt, /proc, /root, /sbin, /tmp, /usr, /var.
Luis made an overview; See further: https://annuel.framapad.org/p/iterations
Examples of spots (or folders?) could be:
- /misc: 'miscelanuous scripts for entertainmaint'.
- The spot named /dev coould collect hardware conditions, of the connected 'devices'. These could be the museum, the organisation, the apparats, the transport, etc ...
- /tmp could collect temporary expactations, desires, conditions that relate to each viewer ..
- /bin in unix is where system-applications live, in the case of teh exhibition that could be: food, inspiration, making, ....
- /lib could be the library, the place of resources, books, manuals, ...
- And so on.
Options discussed: renaming folders to something else, away from computer and closer to how people relate: /collab / eat /liberate / /basics /inst
The visitor of the exhibition can follow the path and visits the various spots / spaces.
She encounters the thought process that the artists went through during the residency.
She can also contribute to the exhibition: A central printer can be put in the middle (at the end of the exhibition? ) where they can produce a poster that can be added to the spaces. Mediation can be foreseen.
The logic can be: you can copy, commit a comment, add new, but you can not take away or delete. Uncommenting is possible though. This way the exhibition keeps growing, also after the residency is over.
Possible METHOD:
We can imagine a method that makes the time and involvement productive and fun:
- We collect / write / create conditions to be collected in the show
- Each condition is made into a poster and is printed
- The poster is added to one of the spots
- When the system grows, conditions start to interact, to contradict, to work together, to be divers
- Everything can be a poster: A rule. An interview. A picture. An observation. A score. A video.
- The system is generative, the artists continue untill the opening. After that, visitors can cintinue the system.
- There will always be one person in the space that giudes the printing process.
