Dear all,

My name is Lilia and I’m in charge of the Fragile Community Score proposal that will take place on Saturday 9 november afternoon and again on Friday 15 November 2019.

Constant invited me with this practice because the score sets the possibility for a network of relations that question the individual and the collective, and very importantly the space in between both. I see this space in between as a place for potential expansion of the relational and so as a political environment. Can sensibility, attention, collision and disagreement be part of the same game?

Fragile Community Score is about temporary collectivities. It consists of the presentation (in whatever format) of the problematics your work raises and on the making of questions addressed to each others' problematics. This score is part of a larger research titled 'Scorescapes - score as a pedagogical tool' that I develop at a.pass - platform for artistic research practices.

In order to prepare the score, I would like to ask you to bring an object that relates in one way or another to the techno-social protocol or problematics that made you interested in Collective Conditions. These objects will be collected and stay side by side in Ateliers Mommen for the duration of the work sessions.

If you want to know more about both scores, I am updating them here: https://pad.constantvzw.org/p/collectiveconditions.fragilecommunityscores

I hope this is clear? For any questions don’t hesitate to contact me.

Looking forward!
Lilia

FRAGILE COMMUNITY SCORES
Lilia Mestre

Fragile Community Score sets the possibility for a network of relations that question the individual and the collective and very importantly the space in between both, where situated singularities happen. I see this space in between as a place for the potential expansion of the sensible and so as a political environment. Can sensibility, attention, collision and disagreement be part of the same game? This question opens for me a utopian ground to practice iterations for a possible inclusive collectivity. An environment which is rather generative than productive that can put into alliance different voices, intentions, concerns, intensities ... a practice for temporary co-habitation in difference.

SESSION 1
Saturday 9 November, 15:30-18:30

- We will be separated in groups of 5 people.

- Each of us will make 10 minutes (max) presentation of our work through the techno-social protocol or problematics that made you interested in Collective Conditions. I would like to ask you to use the object that you brought in your presentation.

- Presentations will take place one after the other. If you are a collective the same procedure operates.

- Take notes of all presentations. After the presentations select few keywords that raised interest for you. Say them out loud and explain why. A list of keywords will be formed.

- Once the presentations took place and the keywords were discussed, each of us will be assigned by chance to formulate a question to another participant of our group. The questions are a fundamental part of the score. They are seen here as a support structure to the works of others. Even if you don’t feel affiliated with a certain work the idea is to be able to pay attention, contextualise, articulate in order to support, open up the work of another. The question is seen as a critical contribution. Critique in this sense perceived as a responsible and dedicated task. Start your question by a description of what you have seen and heard.

- Write each question on an A4. Once the questions are made we read them out loud to the group.

- At the end of the session, we collect all objects and put the questions next to them on the wall.

- During the week each of us will pay attention to what relates to the question received (as to see your work through the eyes of another) and collect notes.

- The objects will be collected and stay side by side in Ateliers Mommen for the duration of Collective Conditions

SESSION 2
Friday 10 November, 10:00-13:00

- We'll form smaller groups again.

- We will have a moment to elaborate on a response to the question that was addressed to each of our works by revisiting the notes each of us took, the conversations we had, what has happened during past the week.

- Each of us will present our responses in 10 minutes (max) time frame one after the other after reading the question each of us got.

- We will have a moment afterwards to read unanswered questions and remote responses

- We take notes of each presentation and have a keywords discussion at the end.

- All materials will be collected and archived.
