Give Me A Reason to Live (Claire Cunningham)
- Description:
- Choreography / Performance. Cunningham is on a stage, moving the own body, holding crutches (?) that are part of the movement, too. Most movements of the performance include stooped postures.
- The performance is built on sketches of beggars and cripples from the Painter Hieronymus Bosch (1450–1516). Whith this performance, Cunningham intends to ask questions like "When is a bent-over posture representative of oppression, and when is it penitent?"
- In the Video Cunningham can be seen/heard talking about her thought-process behind the project which allows insight into her interpretation of Bosch´s sketches as well as her own experience of osteoperosis and how this impacts her artwork and her daily experiences. She talks about how in this artpiece she wanted the focus to be not only on the things she can, but also on the things she can´t do.
