Prototype:the new Taxonomy Browser
(aka replace the vegetables!)
Example: Associative viewing of a video
Start with a Name in a fragment of video, go to related events, works, etc. (contrast with Popcorn demo)
Contrast with the relative poverty / assumptions of "open" RDF data sources like Freebase. Think about how Freebase could be enriched by say the contents of Tapies/Constant (and vice versa how Freebase could perhaps allow linkages between different cultural institutions collections).
Maybe work with code examples from "Programming the Semantic Web": http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596153823/
... start with "rdf browsing" examples
... maybe a game in finding the "shortest path" between two subjects (ref Wiki game http://thewikigame.com/)

Language around RDF: Predicate, provenance, normalize
Bio:...

Biography structured as a series of events
Was living
marriage, birth, ...
Collection of biographies of an institution
In RDF, validation does not imply a single source (an interesting property of an XML document is that it is both strict, and can weave together information from different sources).
Encounters
Nicolas: Half of Tapies Foundation website is biographical. In the writing, it suggests another form of reading/navigating the contents of the site... namely one that makes cross connections between people based on things like: concentrations in time, moments of encounter between two people. The "event" tag of the bio namespace suggests a possibility to structurally enable these kinds of cross-reading. In this case, the vocabulary changes the "granularity" of a narrative and thus creates new possibilities for connection. In this way, vocabularies are very relevant to the activity of writing.

RDF as an authoring environment // writing with RDF
Connecting 50 Tapies videos through biographies
A networked browser
Scenario:
In AA, editor tags a portion of a clip with a Tapies Participant. In a "Network Browser", clicking on the participants name brings up all connections (via the RDF from Tapies), for instance names of other events, publications, and videos where this tag appears. Through checkboxes, the editor is able to build a custom playlist of video framents, images, texts.
? Graph based media player
Interactive exploration "talks about" relationship. Idea of an algorithm that seeks a loop in the database.
Mockup that shows linking of two topics from different institutions (). Idea of writing queries directly in the wiki (Semantic Media Wiki), etc.
How to go beyond the six degrees / practical results to a more playful / speculative map. How to democratize the avant-garde. (Exploring how geography has impact in where concepts are defined, how history is (re)written).

The Active Archive team presents their ongoing work at the Fundació Antoni Tàpies. The meeting with several other Spanish cultural institutions is organised in the context of Arts combinatòries, a project that uses new technologies in order to create new forms of relationships with the cultural contents of the foundation. In line with the social commitment of the institution it articulates a transversal, critical and participatory discourse.
In a two-day work session preceding the presentation, we will test out
cross-institutional taxonomies mixing on-line video material hosted on the servers of Fundació Antoni Tàpies, Constant and other places.
This means, we would like to work with Linda and you on the annotation/keywording of video to produce mixes and playlists next week
and present the results to the guests of the public session. We will also
present concepts under the form of prototypes or mockups for further
development of archive projects. These experiments will use the work on
the different taxonomies of Constant, the Fundacio and other sources.
