On 9 October, Zeljko will be available at/around the Open Design course to discuss proposals with you. In the session of 16 October, we will pick up the process and make a third rotation, now employing actual digital tools. Depending on the outcomes, we will together pick 2, 3 or 4 posters for production. There is a modest budget for the whole group.

Theme: The future of KAA GENT fan/supporter identity.
What will it mean to be a football fan in ... 2050? 2040? 2030? 2020? Football is critically acclaimed as one of the last bastions of white male mass culture. It is in urgent need to be re-calibrated for the 21st century, a future that can make diversities out of differences, participation out of privileges and think intersections beyond just sporadic inclusions. In the context of this massive fan-centered sport, let's think about: What is the future identity of a football fan? What can we project towards 2050? 2040? 2030? 2020?
-> The poster should be made with Free, Libre and Open Source Software, use Libre fonts and will be made available under an Open License.

#1 what is the actual agenda of the Supporters Federatie in this?
- They organize a conference on the topic of future identity (which is very adventurous),
so artistic collaboration was established to learn from each other (sport - culture exchange)
and help supporters break out of thinking short time scale and usual norms/traditions...

could initiate this as well as presentation/installation/workshop at conf.
#2 How does/can/should the campaign relate to the club/conventions/issues with professional football?
- it needs not to as these are proposals/visions for future of FAN identity-culture,
not full system that would include many other parts... KAA GENT as club
is already in mixed public-private ownership and fan co-ownership is planned,
so in that respect it is fairly positive example at this high level of big clubs.
#3 Why do they need an artist to work on developing their future fanbase?
- It is not development of future fan base by artist (check FAQ #1 also),
but rather asking existing fans hard questions on who-what-how is missing,
as well as potential fan base why not and what would be important
for them to be present in order to take part of it in the future.
#4 What is/could be the role of a poster/image in breaking heteronormativity?
- as in with breaking any norm...hopefully catalist for questioning present,
so that immediate future can be adapted for long term change of culture.
KAA GENT is officially very supportive of social issues and diversity,
but in practice on the ground and in the stands it is not so diverse,
nor is it equaly safe and welcoming for different expressions and needs.
This might also be the fact for most of the city, which is progressive
on many issues but still somewhat simple and centered on traditions.
