Hi Rami!

Here are some notes, thoughts and questions on your proposal.

Firstly, I remember you giving me a good explanation of what "Imagology" is, but I am getting old and my memory fails me. A concrete example or a clearer explanation would've helped me in the beginning, but that's just me, makesense people love things that they do not completely understand.

Another point is (yes, I am still at the first page), I somehow couldn't connect the concept of artist from the "global south" with the Völkerphsychologie (even though,I quickly read on that on the Wikipedia). Maybe you understand this concept better than I do and tie them together. Again, makesense people probably find it interesting.

Suggestions

I came across "hegemonic" or "hegemony" in relation to museums, here, theory of "Cultural Hegemony" from Antonio Gramsci might come handy. I guess, somewhere in his book he says something along the lines of, every relationship of "hegemony" is necessarily an educational relationship.

Another thing that came to my mind is the "Agonistic" approach of Chantal Mouffe, when you mentioned "a wide, diverse, plural and in continually transitioning imagology". Especially in relation to the public institutions like museums. It reminded me of this quote from her book;

Maybe some quantitative methods in the methodology part to make it more graspable? E.g. empirical research?

This proposal can be placed in probably cultural anthropology but also somehow media studies depending on where you want to focus, even probably post-colonial studies if that's a thing.

I am a little hesitant to comment on the research questions part, since I struggle to formulate them myself, but you might want to sharpen them a bit.

I might update this document sometime soon, but do not take my word for it. ;)
