Flat image, aerial view. Easily distinguishable elements. Elements in order of relevance: baby, sheets, surface taking the background of the image (by supposition, a mattress), pillow. The baby lay on its back, couldn't tell whether it held its head straight up or had it turned to the side (it looked to the side), both arms and hands raised to head height, no recognizeable expression (probably because its head was turned), only saw the head and arms (even though it was wearing a green shirt, I didn't see it; I didn't even catch a glimpse of green). White sheets with coloured stripes were the only coloured elements I saw in the picture: pink and blue. White fabric texture background—the mattress. I read the pillow in connection with the sheets; they had the same stripe in the same colour as the sheet.

The outline of a brick building stands out, clearly, a single window and a door as black openings, completely dark. This building is the center of the photograph. It’s dilapidated and abandoned, situated in a landscape with no adjoining buildings. Behind it, there are bushes or trees. I notice the flickering pattern of small leaves over what kind of growth they necessarily belong to. I don’t notice a sky, its like the leaves take up the upper part of the image. In front of the building there’s grass. I sense that it’s dry, it’s not a lush lawn, but it might be the sepia tones of the image inflicting this sense of dry, red soil. I don’t notice the roof. Perhaps there isn’t one, perhaps the strong grid of the masonry and the stark frontality of the image overpowers it.

Later, I wonder about the similarities of houses and faces and why kids draw houses all the time, or at least I did

Image: man on the airport.
I think I saw the materiality of the image and linked it to a warm place. A place with not much
water. Because I only remembered that the uniform on the man had buttons I think my brain
started to pick up the idea of a man working on an airport site and therefore my image of the
background became an airport. If I really should break down the reason for that it could be
that I live in a less sunny and dry place that this image, and its materiality reminded me of
traveling…

I always see the cropped picture
If I start with "context" it gives too much of
imagination, it closes down.

I was seeing two rays in the ocean. One smaller and one bigger, they was swimming together. The big one was in the left upper corner of the picture and the smaller one was in the right lower corner. Together they was making a diagonal one in the picture. The rays was grey. Camouflage in dark and light grey. The was swimming in the same direction. The ocean was blue. The sun was breaking the surface. The water was shimmering. It was a good day for two rays swimming in the big ocean. The water was warm. Actually nearly 20 degrees. The small ray was asking the bigger one about life. Whats the meaning of life? What is the ocean so big? The big ray answered: I don’t now. You have to figure it out by yourself.
