further comments:

•     - very interesting how much care the guardian puts into describing how they can sustain themselves: where they get funding from, what this means, who develops etc. 
  • - note that one reason not to mention specific locations is to protect people situated there. so there is a universalism, lack of understanding of situatedness, but then there is also the pressure to keep categories general in order not to put people under threat through mentioning their organizations, countries etc. 
    • this was also an issue when i went to tactical tech training: i did not receive a list of attendees, this was decidedly so so that the list would not end in the hands of the wrong entities. i am of course not sure if this was also a problem of not managing to include me in the loop. in any case, tactical tech then becomes central to the gathering, delivering trust, security etc. there is something with division of labor in there that we can discuss.

• - kemgozlere sis feels like [do they specify criteria clearly?] they want to be pure (it needs to be free, it needs to comply with their) but in the process, they do not refer to any other packs/iitiatives and become a centralized gate keeper of resources. femke says this may be because they [and others, mainly - maybe not them] do not want to confuse the user any further.
