Meeting 14/05 2 things needed: - dossier for Luc, - but also 2016 plans >>>> who to collaborate with and partners / money Partner Review What meetings happened What do we expect Prep for Dasarts - Self-organisation - Resilience - SPIN-off as a framing of artistic practice: not reduced to producing shows, What are ways that you can share the knowledge generated by the artistic practice. How does one build a block? Normally they invite 1 or 2 mentors (dialogue between the mentors / curated) around a very specific theme. 10 weeks, job of the mentor is to design this block. Practical or theoretical. How can a block be designed? Year of research for the block in 2018 Can it be set as self-education? Shifting the balance between what is individual and what is collective? *--> Bojana as a good person to develope this with? To talk with? It requires good organisation in advance. In how far does such a programm allow flexibility and openness? SPIN would pay for the preparation After that moment possibility to intereact with different context with similar material. (back to the field) *Questioning wether it is possible to share knowledge with a public * Creative producer? Intensity? A way for SPIN to invite people around own interests within a focused period. KASK research in the arts // co-financing o/t preparation --> APPLY IN SPRING 2016 Are there heavy obligations coming with it? *--> results o/t research have to be communicated *--> Apply collectively is possible Weaving information together + documentation --> someone to collaborate with us on that Meeting with Barbara DasArts >> close relation inside SPIN also gives opportunity to exchange about teaching experiences > How to move beyond our own circle >> bad feedback from the Possible Futures >> discussion about skill of teaching and demand from students >> articulating this clearly/consciously Art of transmitting needs to be put on the table as well, what are standards there. What is our specific take on that gathering? How do you create that platform where you can also work with all the differences. Consumeristic attitude from people who follow workshops. (I've invested, what do you I get out of it immediately?) --> students Judge if this is the environment you want to be in *--> This evolution demands for an attitude // bring expectations inside of the meeting which is the workshop - what is the meeting / purpose of learning experience The question 'how' is important in educational field -> many ways possible / different principles >>>> gaining awareness of what it is that you do > what dialogue with block mentors? Stop working with mentors. Block is a vast unit, not a collection of workshops, so you can create a dramaturgy of learning by carefully designing the order of things. Also the diversity of different forms is important. --> laboritory for the mentor (once in a lifetime) challenge yourself, experimental educational set-up / hypothesis. Trying different formats / experimental pedagogy For mentor: wanting to find out more about certain thing and through pedagogy finding this out with a group of people. *--> not everybody sees it / methadology not a strong starting point with many of the mentors / not prepared to make it an experiemntal pedagogy // they are learning what a pedagogical practice while it happens Making and practical side important as well. Get out of safe territory of the mentor. Be transparent about radicality of proposal ---> make transparent Pedagogic ideology (look at what you doing as if it was a pedagogic ideology) For students: suspension of disbelief Let yourself be deviated from own practices,... is agenda of the school Demand a lot from your mentors in dealing with group dynamics. Extra skill - too heavy for many people. Block can be a combination of pedagogical ideologies. *Mentor would invite guest teachers who bring in their own ideologies and pedagogical practice in turn. *Task of the mentor would become very heavy. An other reason would be agenda's. Too often problems with planning in advance, deadlines unreached. Leak of experience and knowledge accumulated in the institute that leaks out because you give someone else a mandate. >> communication between mentor and institute. *> You get into a loyalty conflict to all parties. * *How to maintain the block (10 weeks presence) , how to maintain the experimental pedagogy, Now: a block editorial board Instead of a mentor that makes the 10 weeks, there is a board (Barbara + Marijke) that will expand and is preparing the block (filling it in) > themes, artists, ... Next block will be a dialogue between 2 modules of 4/5 weeks around a maybe a theme *- art meetin society *- narration, speculativ narrative Other entity with guest teachers in between. *Overarching dramaturgy * Developing the expertise of the institute inside of design of block > Jul taking care of group dynamics / eg. insterting group talks along the way More spread responsibility More explicit about different roles people take within a block. * *Sept: curators and creative producers as new participants. Not making a master creative producing, but invited with their own practice inside the group. By making them peers of the artists, DasArts hopes that something in the culture / awareness of dependency, fear, ... between artists and curators. How can this be thought differently? --> Creative producing Interesting term: what cultures are you generating for your audiences, what is there around the artistic proposal How to cultivate generative working situations together. Rather than reproducing the the usual specialisations and role divisions... > this learned from attempts at 'independent' artist initiatives where the artist tries to do everything... as opposed to attempting more creative collaborations with individuals who have production experience. Meeting LUC 15.05.15 (I, K, H, A, Luc) CONTENT FOR NEXT INTERNAL DISCUSSION: >>>> make concrete proposals for principles of change > ie. how do we think about challenging and refreshing SPIN institution as we go. ie. refresh board, collaboration with organisations that are similar but fundamentally different (eg. Toestand), invite artist in (in which capacity?) > LUC input: good to look outside of arts organisations for this - knowledge collaborations - learning from existing practices - inspirational exchange // try to surprise yourself >>>>> look together at the retrospective budget conclusions > decisions on the shape of future budget shape >>>>> written material about the planned SPINoffs > plan who and when writing >>>>> pre-discussion of functions >>>>> development of partners and our proposals to them >> specially BUDA >>>>> development of SPINoff content >>>>> concrete planning 2017-18 >>>>> budget shape NEXT TIME WITH LUC > Ingrid and Luc look at budget together? > functions descision (based on more info from commission?) > first part (the dossier basic version) is done early July? Then after Ingrid comes back we fit it to the format of commission (??)
