DAS arts theater feedbackmethod
https://www.atd.ahk.nl/theatre-programmes/das-theatre/feedback-method/
Hybrid, cross-disciplinary artistic practices are often hard to be defined and their product to be discussed; DAS Theatre is an educational institution which brings these artistic practices in the foreground of today’s art discourse, also by implementing this feedback method. Together with the philosopher Karim Benammar, DAS Theatre first defined the major obstacles which, in a collective setting, often prevent critical exchanges from having a stimulating learning effect.

The central aims for the feedback situations are: to empower the artist who is getting feedback on his or her work, to go beyond the pronouncement of judgments, to allow fundamental criticism, to create a sense of (self-) discipline for the sake of precision and clarity, and, last but not least, to increase the enjoyment of giving and receiving feedback.

Critical Response Process

Liz Lerman’s Critical Response Process is a method for giving and getting feedback on work in progress, designed to leave the maker eager and motivated to get back to work.

User Experience feedback:
Open feedback is essential for a collaborative UX process. However, sharing unfinished work is naturally uncomfortable and often generates tension. The right facilitation process can foster an efficient, honest feedback loop.

Vivisection or Filleting Session (methode used at AKV|ST.Joost Den Bosch, Merel's former art school)

This methode should take approximately one hour.
The first half of the time the maker is present but doesn't speak. The second half of the time the maker can enter the discussion to clarify her/his/they self or ask and answer questions.
Before the discussion start's everybody takes a good look at the work, in silence. The only thing the maker has to specify before the vivisection are:
Name of the maker(s)
Title of the work
Materials used
Date of fabrication

This is, next to the work itself, the only information given for the first part of the feedback. The discussion is pretty free, but there is a moderator present to sometimes guide the conversation if necessary. The moderator can ask options about a certain aspect of the work to the feedback group. What works? What doesn't? What makes the group of a particular detail? The moderator can keep the next 5 aspect in mind to discus about:
questioning
analyzes
proces
realisation
presentation

After 30 minutes the moderator involves the maker into the feedback session. Some of the 5 aspects mentioned above, like proces for example, are better discussed in this second part of the exercise.
After an hour, the vivisection is over.
